As well as looking cool, rollbars offer the option to add auxiliary lights or other useful accessories, such as grab handles or load hooks. Originally, these round bars mounted on the pickup's armrest were intended to support the structural integrity of the car during a possible rollover and to house forward-facing auxiliary lights.
Not all bars offer this extra support, some are for visual appeal only.
